I'm a full-time captain in the Virgin Islands and recently installed the Hydro-Shield on my 10-foot tender’s outboard—easily one of the best upgrades I’ve made. Before, the dinghy really struggled to get on plane. With just one person, it would squat hard until I gave it a ton of throttle, and with three or more people, it was a real challenge to plane at all. Now, with the Hydro-Shield, the tender lifts evenly and planes quickly—no more squatting, and no more needing to shift everyone around just to get going.

Installation was quick and easy—took me about 30 minutes with basic tools. For the performance improvement alone, it’s worth every penny, but the bonus is how much it protects the prop. I do a lot of guest drop-offs at beaches, and this keeps the prop from digging into sand or hitting rocks. It’s a solid layer of protection that gives me a lot more confidence in shallow areas.

The boat also has way more bite in the water now. Turning feels different at first, but once you get used to it, the added control—especially when towing tubers or running heavy—is a big plus. More grip means better handling all around.

I’ll be telling all my captain friends to get one, no question. Even if your dinghy already performs well, the Hydro-Shield takes it to the next level.

I boat in the Chain of Lakes in Northern Illinois. Some of the lakes are shallow and have logs and debris in them. I bought this product to save my prop and lower end. Works great

Not only does the Hydro Shield brings my boat on plane quickly, it does at a slower speed. The turning and handling has also improved.

We put it on a 30 hp Mercury that pushes an inflatable rescue boat. Just installed and it will get tested soon. Good looking product.

Second one i have purchased worked great the first time and just as well the second

I was very hesitant about mounting the Hydro-Shield to my skeg. I did not want to drill the four holes for mounting it. Just completed my first fishing trip with this unit mounted. My boat gets on plane much faster and at lower speed than before. The boat is more stable while on plane and turns much better. It also allows me to stay on plane at lower speed as well. Part of my fishing was in very shallow water and this unit protected my skeg and prop. I’m very pleased with this product.

Welle wie gehabt (zwecks Wassersport), Gleitfahrt 300 u/min schneller. Montage relativ einfach. Es soll noch ein Einbauvideo kommen vom Hersteller. Inch muss man sich halt umrechnen für das Einstellen des Montagepunktes. Würde es wieder kaufen. Leider mein Shipping aus der EU, daher noch Zoll und Einfuhrumsatzsteuer.

What a difference. My boat instantly goes on plane. Improved the responsiveness of my motors when turning.

So far so good, I still use extreme caution fishing in shallow water but it’s good to know it’s there. Boat handles better and planes quicker.

Easy to install, seems to work great. Have been out a couple to times with different loads on the boat and I'm very pleased with the handling.

After having installed the Hydro Shield on our Tohatso 20hp, we noticed a definite reduction in the time to get on plane, as well as a marked reduction in bow-rise when accelerating.
I would recommend this to all my friends.

I have two work boats and three fun boats and every single one has a Hyro Shield on it. We rescue Manatees and these give us piece of mind and the performance aspect is unreal. Those other cavitation plate "wings" or "fins" simply add drag and offer very little performance increases. THESE, however, exceed every expectation and truly deliver. I had a little issue with the shipping but Hydro-Shield was very responsive on solved the topic immediatly. Looks all very solid and easy to install, just want to try it out now. Can't wait.

I just installed the Hydro-Shield on my Volvo Penta outdrive and looking forward to seeing how well it works. I recommend this to a friend and he put it on right away and put it in the water. We noticed a significant difference on getting his boat to plane much faster and without a lot of throttle as he had to in the past. And the turning radius was much better. I will update my post as soon as I get my boat in the water.
